https://www.theonlinecitizen.com/2018/12/26/funds-raising-for-leong-sze-hians-defence-and-countersuit-against-pm-lee-lee-hsien-yang-one-of-first-donors/ Funds raising for Leong Sze Hian’s defence and countersuit against PM Lee; Lee Hsien Yang, one of first donorsThe Online Citizen 2018-12-26 Current Affairs Friends and supporters of Leong Sze Hian have started to raise funds for his defence case against Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's defamation suit and countersuit on PM Lee for abusing the court process. Countersuit filed against PM Lee for abusing court process Leong was earlier sued by PM Lee for defamation over a Facebook share he made with an article from TheCoverage.My. The article claimed that editor-in-chief of investigative journalism platform Sarawak Report (SR) Ms Clare Rewcastle had mentioned Singapore as "one of the key investigation targets, alongside Switzerland and United States" in the 1MDB scandal during an interview with Malaysian media. In response to earlier media queries, Ms Chang Li Lin, the press secretary to the Prime Minister, confirmed that PM Lee had commenced legal proceedings against Leong for defamation, and said that the matter is in the hands of PM Lee's lawyers. "Mr Lee reserves the right to take legal action against other parties who similarly defame him," she added. However, TOC understands that there was no caption written by Leong on the Facebook share. Lim Tean, who is representing Leong in both suits, announced on Wednesday that he has accepted the case from Leong and said that he is looking forward to cross-examine the PM in court. Lim wrote, "Mr Leong did not choose to pick a fight, but now offers battle to uphold the freedom of expression in Singapore, a fundamental human right which he has fought tirelessly for more than 2 decades." In a statement from the Carson Laws Chamber, it is said that Leong plead that the claim by PM Lee is an abuse of the process of the court and relies upon the same argument for his counterclaim based upon the tort of abuse of civil process. The statement further states, "Our client invites the court to find that the initiating and pursuit of an unnecessary claim for libel must, therefore, be in order to try to obtain an impermissible collateral advantage, and believes its purpose is to chill freedom of expression ahead of both the trial of Najib Razak and a likely General Election in Singapore next year." Lee Hsien Yang contributes to Leong's legal fund In response to TOC's query if he has plans for any fundraising, Leong shared that many have approached him to express their interest to contribute to his legal funds and already some had contributed to it. Leong told TOC that he hope to see 10,000 people to contribute $1 to his legal funds. While his target amount will not be sufficient to pay for the legal fees, Leong said, "Singaporeans must let our overpaid Ministers know once and for all, that it does not pay to sue ordinary citizens for defamation. Singaporeans and their children, and their children's children will never have to fear being sued, for exercising their rights of freedom of expression." He also shared that Mr Lee Hsien Yang, younger brother of PM Lee had contributed to his crowd funding campaign. In response to TOC's query, Mr Lee Hsien Yang confirmed that he had just contributed to Leong's legal funds, however, the amount is not revealed. Mr Lee Hsien Yang and his sister, Dr Lee Weiling had earlier issued a joint statement on 14 June 2017, delivering harsh criticisms of PM Lee, saying that they are disturbed by the character, conduct, motives and leadership of their brother, and the role of his wife, Ho Ching. Alleging that PM Lee had abused his powers and position as PM for personal agenda. In response to the allegations, PM Lee cleared himself in Parliament of any wrong doings and closed the matter without any official investigation. Public welcome to support Leong To make his wish happen, Leong has decided to make his accounts public for those keen to support to donate for his legal funds. For those who wish to contribute to Leong's legal funds, the details of his accounts are as follow: Name of account: Leong Sze Hian POSB Savings: 064064070 Paynow: S0009739Z Paypal: ecuadortrade@yahoo.com.sg

Direct owner purchase query - transfer of car with financing
Allanh41 posted a topic in General Car Discussion
Hi everyone, I’m looking to buy a car from an owner directly and seeking opinions on how to do the transfer The car is still under financing and I intend to buy with cash (no financing) Just like to seek an opinion what’s the best way to do this to minimise any risk of seller MIA with my money Should I.... 1. Issue 2 cashier order (1 to bank, 1 to owner) and collect the car. Owner to do transfer after full settlement 2. Issue cashier order to bank. After settlement, meet owner to pay balance and collect car or any suggestions? Thanks -
Yes, you are right. If there is no other car involve, it will be a clear situation. Discount from AD ! Forget it. If they are willing to give me a sincere reply to my query and not brush me off, I will be already so appreciative la. Discount, Repeat customer - They don't give a damn. My macan is with them for more than a month already. I guess is - if they don't what to do, what can they do. So everyone was waiting for everyone. And making a decision could means bearing responsibility. So play safe, don't do anything. I derive this when the staffs keep asking me to write letter to help them to help me.

GE2020: Singapore General Election - 10 July 2020
Fcw75 replied to Picnic06-Biante15's topic in Lite & EZ
I know many do not like Lim Tean but this post of his is not so bad. What Is The Role Of A Mayor? The feverish discussion currently raging in Singapore about how useful the 5 PAP appointed Mayors are provide a useful starting point for examining what the proper role of a Mayor should be and whether this should be a part time job commanding an obscene annual salary of $660,000. We must remember that this discussion has been simmering for years and did not arise simply because of what Pritam Singh brought up in Parliament earlier this week. In most democratic countries, a Mayor is the head of the municipal or local government. This position makes sense in a medium size to big country, especially one where there is a Federal system, where there is separation between the National and State or Provincial governments. So Mayors are common in the European and American democracies. A common denominator in true democracies is that Mayors are elected and are not part of the National Parliament or Congress. They are elected in Mayoral or Municipal elections. Examples of well known Mayors include Boris Johnson ( current British PM ), who was the Mayor of London for 2 terms and Jacques Chirac ( former President Of France ) who was a long serving Mayor of Paris. Both were elected to their positions of Mayor and both were never Members of Parliament when they were Mayors. Both ran big cities and had their hands full doing a full time job. In Singapore, the position of Mayor appears to me to be an add on (or tambah) position! The 1st qualification appears to be that you must be a PAP MP. Never mind if you are not a full time Mayor. You can double hat or triple hat and be a Mininster Of State plus an MP on TOP of being Mayor. But you are still entitled to an obscene salary of $660,000 a year besides your other salaries or “allowances” for wearing other hats. That this Mayor’s position cannot be considered serious is demonstrated by the fact that 4 out of the 5 incumbents are part-time Mayors. And indeed one has to query why the position of Mayor is needed when we have so many Ministries, agencies and other bodies which can carry out the same work which the Mayors do. I wasn’t the least bit impressed by the work done by the Mayors which Denise Phua spelt out in Parliament earlier this week. And it was facile for Denise to rebut Pritam by suggesting that he should not politicise the issue since he was granted and accepted the office of Leader of the Opppsition. Is she seriously suggesting that the superfluous office of Mayor is the equivalent of the Office of Leader of the Opposition, which has the vital constitutional role of bringing the government of the day to account? When I read Denise’s rebuttal to Pritam, it appeared to me that the sum total of her argument was that he should “shut up” and be grateful for the patronage of the Prime Minister in giving him his current Office. If I was in Pritam’s shoes, I would have lambasted Denise for insulting the intelligence of the Singapore electorate. Mayors have no place in a small country like Singapore. If they insist on having Mayors, then do the decent thing and ask all these Mayors to resign from Parliament and be candidates in Mayoral elections! Also, why do we need 5 Mayors when cities such as London, Paris and Shanghai, which have much bigger populations and land areas, have only one? The quality of debate in Parliament which came from the PAP side this week ( including Alex Yam, Ong Ye Kung, Gan Siow Huang, Heng Swee Keat, Carrie Tan and of course Denise Phua ) was so dismal, you have to fear for the future of our country. -

Google - lithium ion suppression blanket Singapore IMHO. After much internet research, my own conclusion on fire relating to lithium, is to use water. I don't have a PMD. But I have mobile devices, devices and batteries. My batteries are for power tools and also 18650s. I have a SMALL pressure sprayer 2L that is always filled and pressured as I figured, it is something I can grab immediately and be far away when I spray. I am looking at upgrading it to 5L or 10L. I settled for this method because a) don't seem to be able to find a water extinguisher b) filling a pail will take time c) connecting a hose to the tap will take time d) setup a power sprayer will take time including (b) Building upon your query on fire suppression blanket, I may likely use a cotton blanket soak with water. Also, I think it is important to include household members on this particular fire safety as well. Just to share what I have found so far, below are two videos I took some reference from - lithium fire on-board aircraft.

Singapore Reckless Drivers Part IX

Nowadays crimes so easy to solve one.. ownself pwn ownself... Not surprising. My friends helper wanted to buy some very cheap tablet for her kids to do e learning back in Philippines. So I looked through for my friend the two Lazada PH links he sent me. This is for the sub 100 sgd category. There were two tablets. One significantly better than the other and only ten sgd apart. I couldn't understand why one so much superior in specs. Both sold quite a lot. Then I read the various reviews... So the one with the better specs has fake specs when u use the os to query the specs. U have to use 3rd party apps to check the actual specs. After some searching on aliexpress. It seems like this fake specs issue is rampant in the around less than 200 dollar sgd category. Even among the top sellers. The tablets do work for the most part. But really outdated android os and the fake specs as above.

Hi All, Recently I was met with this incident, Long story short: Nissan guy side swiped me as he was going straight on a RIGHT TURN only lane. I was on his left. Evidence from front and back cam submitted to my workshop and claiming third party. Both side reported accident but according to workshop he said that the other side is refusing to admit fault and insisted that I turned into him which the video clearly says it isn't. Workshop mentioned the third party insurance persuaded the driver to admit liability but he refused so now the process is stuck. Workshop told me that if the Nissan driver refuses to admit fault there is nothing we can do. But if the other party has already reported the accident and evidence is secured shouldn't the third party insurance determined whether whose fault is it and deciding liability instead of needing the driver to admit his fault? Appreciate if anyone can advise on this because a simple side swipe like this already dragged on for 2 months. Seems pretty much a way for insurance company to drag out the case until you give up in the claiming process.

2019/2020 MCF Revamp - Feedback/Errors
Atrecord replied to BabyBlade's topic in Feedback & Suggestions
one other feedback/query. After I'd uploaded and posted one photo (taken from my phone) in one thread, very often if I want to upload and post another photo as a separate post, my phone will prompt and say I can only upload 8 MB, then doesn't allow me to upload... I thought the 8MB limit is for one post? How come post in another post also got size limit? I attach a screenshot showing the error message. I'm using Samsung note 10+, and accessing mcf using chrome on the phone. -
Agree on your points esp on the subsidy part. My query was more on how the article could come up with 130 five room flats by reducing the same number of 2, 3 and 4 room flats. It just doesn't add up.

The Perfect Storm of the Stock Market II
Sdf4786k replied to RadX's topic in Investment & Financial Matters
this is interesting on DLC https://www.drwealth.com/a-derivative-tracking-the-singapore-airlines-sia-shares-went-to-0-within-minutes/ SIA – How traders lost all their money in DLC through a bizarre price movement Singapore Airlines (SIA) shares went ex-rights on 6 May 2020 and there was some unusual and bizarre movement in its share price wiping out the total value of SIA Daily Leverage Certificate (DLC) 5 X Short, which has been suspended as the underlying price has appreciated more than 20% from their theoretical ex-rights price (TERP) of S$3.71. This means that losses are now in excess of 100% for this leverage product. The value of TERP was derived by Soc Gen, the market maker for DLC using a methodology which includes the rights share component based on the issuance of approx. 1.78bn shares and the conversion of Mandatory Convertible Bond (MCB). The retail investors who bought the SIA 5XShort DLC were the amongst the worst casualties, they lost all their investments. They are crying foul because they had bought the SIA 5XShort DLC based on the TERP that was derived by SIA which amounted to $4.16 as at Thursday closing price of $5.91. Investors who bought the 5Xshort DLC had bet that SIA could continue to be weak given the poor fundamentals as a result of COVID 19. SIA shares traded in a weird fashion yesterday from a low of 4.15 to a high of 5.05 before closing at 4.40. It actually closed at 4.62 at 5 pm only to be bashed down to 4.40 by a big block order that was matched during trade-at-close hours. These weird price actions left traders scratching their heads. Investors are complaining that there is no transparency and no level playing field when there was an official SIA derived TERP at 4.16 that differs from a TERP derived by Soc Gen at 3.71. This was not published and retail investors have no privy to the information. Investors content that big gap in the TERP potentially opens the door to market manipulation because if someone had information that the TERP is at 3.71 and the markets perceives it at 4.16, it is obvious that the airbags for the DLC will easily burst resulting in the DLC being delisted. Fuelling more discontent , if Soc Gen had used the same official TERP at 4.16 investors will have sufficient time to exit their position and perhaps the airbags wouldn’t have burst. One investor actually wrote to SIA Investor Relation and got this reply: “With regards to your query, it would not be relevant to calculate the TERP based on MCBs prior to maturity given the nature and trading characteristics of both types of securities (e.g. no market quote/price for MCB prior to issuance compared to ordinary shares traded on an exchange)” Soc Gen adjusted TERP 3.71 is significantly different from the announced TERP by SIA at 4.16 . Being a material difference, this should be communicated clearly to traders of DLCs on a timely basis before the ex-rights date. The significant difference in the adjusted price create a huge price disadvantage for those who are holding on the SIA DLC shorts while huge advantage to SIA DLC long. What’s going here… its bizarre . At S$4.77 SIA is even higher than the TERP price of S$4.16 base on a pre-ex-rights price of S$5.91. The S$4.77 price would indicate a pre-ex-rights price of S$7.44! WoW! . Overnight, SIA’s price/share has increased from S$5.91 to S$7.44 which is an appreciation of 26%! Many traders are asking me whether there was any conspiracy behind this weird price movement to flush out all the traders holding the shorts from the people who had privy information of the adjusted TERP at 3.71. Frankly after having being involved in promoting DLC with Soc Gen and SGX since its inception, I don’t think there is any malaise but someone must be held accountable for this confusion which has resulted in huge losses and loss of confidence for derivative products listed on the SGX. MCB Should Not Have Impact To TERP I think the main issue here was about Soc Gen using a Theoretical Ex-Right Price (TERP) that was different from what most people understood to be. This is because they included the MCB conversion to shares to calculate the TERP of $3.71. But MCBs are only convertible at the 10th year and it has no immediate dilutive effect to the SIA shares. Hence, Rights MCBs should not be considered in calculating the TERP. The TERP should only consider the conversion of the Rights Shares which would be $4.16 based on SIA share price of $5.91. This was confirmed by the SIA investor relations, With regards to your query, it would not be relevant to calculate the theoretical ex-rights price (“TERP”) based on MCBs prior to its maturity given the different nature and trading characteristics of both types of securities (e.g. no market quote/price for MCB prior to its issuance, compared to ordinary shares traded on an exchange). Traders had little reaction time to adjust their trades To be fair, Soc Gen did inform the market participants about the TERP they used in an announcement prior to the market open. For the purpose of the calculations under the terms and conditions of the Certificates on 6 May 2020, the closing price of the Shares on the SGX-ST on 5 May 2020 will be adjusted to S$3.71025415 The only issue was that the adjustment was announced 22 minutes before the market open and the DLC was suspended from trading within 9 minutes of trading.- 9,377 replies

Mean if they can send people letter once ERP flag if the person never paid ERP charges, this is BS if they say they cannot identify if RoadTAX/Insurance is not paid. It is just simple query to match IU number with all active ROADTAX/Insurance and if no record found send alert to SPF/LTA (if they still insist it is that difficult then here is query IF NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM ROADTAX_INSURANCE_TABLE WHERE CURRENT_IU=CULPRIT_CAR_IU) SELECT 'SEND ALERT SPF/LTA' ) It is true SQL query and it is not that difficult to match these people, but hey maybe people who getting million dollars knows better.

For the newbies, u can do a search on the topic u want to query on and more often than not, u shld be able to find an existing thread for u to post your questions there. Most of the popular car models already have existing threads and even general topics like Covid, sports, property, exercise, food etc have threads already. In the event your topic is so rare that there are no existing threads, u can always post it here and we can help open a thread for u if we find it useful and relevant or we could also point u to a relevant thread which u may have missed out. Hope this helps.

My front driver side door panel is starting to creak quite a bit- particularly going up ramps and sharp turns (i.e. when there is body flex). Its getting quite annoying. Have read it's quite common among Stingers overseas. Have raised a query with Kia and waiting for them to get back. Just wondering if anyone else here has experienced/experiencing this. If so, anyone had C&C here rectify the problem? Also, anyone thinking of getting the anniversary body kit? It's on sale currently from C&C directly.

I dont think that has happened in singapore even with politically motivated cases, theres still due process of some sort. -

The banks will take the opportunity to build in new clauses to protect their profit. Explainer: Why Sora is likely to replace Sibor as Singapore’s benchmark interest rate ... Responding to a query on whether the switch would mean that consumers would have to pay higher interests, Mrs Ong Ai-Boon, director of ABS, said that benchmark interest rate is an independent reference rate that reflects market conditions. But the full price of a loan is dependent on the all-in rate, which includes factors such as the banks' cost of funding and the customer’s credit profile. “The full cost of the loan package doesn’t necessarily change when a customer chooses a different benchmark rate,” she said. https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/explainer-why-sora-likely-replace-sibor-singapores-benchmark-interest-rate

Question on motor insurance policy. If your own insurance allows you to go to approved workshops only (does not include AD workshop), does it mean: In the case where you are claiming 100% against another car, you can still go to any workshop (including AD workshop), since ur using another car's insurance? I am deciding between 2 insurance policies. And the difference is that one allows all workshops and the other doesn't. And the former is more expensive. Thanks.

I have been buying quite actively these few years, generally I am quite relax when the goods would be delivered from China. I always give them more time before escalation compare to if the delivery is from local source. Seldom has to request for refund. Just did twice with AliExpress, both processed within few days. One of the seller actually cancelled my order about a week after I placed it, but I still have to initiate the refund process. Abit unhappy about this procedure. As for local delivery, I always worried when the order involve perishable goods like steak. Just yesterday I made query with a seller about some steaks suppose to arrive 1.5 week ago. Quite happy to get an apology and offer of extra pack as compensation thought I did not ask for it haha.

Photo: Reuters More than a hundred shoppers waited in line outside a Chanel store in Seoul on Wednesday, shrugging off concerns about a second wave of coronavirus infections to beat imminent price hikes by the French luxury brand. South Koreans have been flocking to shops since the government this month began easing social distancing guidelines aimed at containing the virus, indicating a release of pent-up demand from people who had refrained from going outdoors. Online speculation of Chanel price hikes prompted face-masked shoppers to arrive as early as 5am, forming a closely spaced queue which snaked around the Lotte Department Store in downtown Seoul. Those in line received a numbered entry ticket ahead of the store opening at 10.30am. Longer than usual queues also formed at Chanel stores in China as people discussed pending price increases, social media posts showed. A woman in Paris sports a Chanel Boy bag, one of those affected by price increases that began this week. Photo: Shutterstock. Chanel later confirmed that it was increasing prices of handbags and some small leather goods worldwide. It said the increases ranged between 5 per cent and 17 per cent in euros, which reflected a rise in some raw material prices. “The price adjustments only regard Chanel’s iconic handbags, 11.12 and 2.55, as well as Boy, Gabrielle, Chanel 19 bags, and certain small leather goods,” it said in a statement responding to a Reuters query. “These adjustments are made while ensuring that we avoid excessive price differentials between countries, in line with our commitments regarding price harmonisation.” In Seoul, Lee Ji-yeon, 54, said she arrived at about 7.30am and her future son-in-law was at another department store to buy a Chanel bag for her daughter as a present for their wedding, which the virus had pushed to next year from November. “We’ve been to the Chanel store several times before and agonised whether to buy it or not. But since the prices are going to increase, we decided to buy it now,” Lee said. Employees stand outside a reopened Chanel fashion boutique in Paris. The French luxury brand introduced price increases on some of its bags there on Monday, and has confirmed they will be applied globally. Photo: Reuters Many South Koreans gift luxury bags for weddings, including a man in the queue who also said his wedding had been postponed. The queue formed just as more than 100 new Covid-19 cases linked to nightclubs in Seoul prompted fears of another wave of infections in a country held up as a coronavirus mitigation success story. Chanel said it had put in place queue management measures to minimise the formation of long queues at store entrances. In these challenging times for our manufacturers and suppliers, it is essential for Chanel to continue to support them in the best possible way From a Chanel statement A representative for the company in Seoul said the firm had raised prices in its French home market on Monday and that other markets would follow. “In these challenging times for our manufacturers and suppliers, it is essential for Chanel to continue to support them in the best possible way,” the Paris-based firm said. The Lotte Department Store said luxury goods sales jumped 30 per cent from May 1 to May 10 compared with a year earlier, outperforming overall sales. Customers leave a newly reopened Chanel store in Zurich, Switzerland, this week. Photo: Reuters “Luxury goods posted unusually high growth in sales compared to other products,” said spokesman Moon Ho-ik. “There are two or three times more people than normal waiting in line.” Moon attributed the spike to pent-up demand from people who had stayed at home to avoid the virus, as well as from those who would usually buy luxury goods abroad where they can be cheaper, but who have been unable to travel during the pandemic. South Korea is the world’s eighth-biggest luxury goods market, according to researcher Euromonitor. The country has recorded almost 11,000 cases of Covid-19 and more than 250 deaths.- 4,331 replies
